Whether you're in the mood for artisanal pizza, elevated cocktails, or a hidden speakeasy experience, Northern Liberties offers something for every foodie. Here’s a look at the most anticipated new restaurants and bars coming to Northern Liberties in 2025.

Gertie: NYC’s Beloved Diner Lands in Philadelphia

One of the most talked-about additions is Gertie, a Brooklyn-based diner and bar set to open in spring 2025 as part of the Piazza Alta development.

Known for: Signature bagels, babka, and craft cocktails
Ambiance: Cozy yet modern, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or cocktails
Why Visit? Gertie blends classic Jewish deli fare with an innovative twist, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists.

The restaurant also emphasizes warm hospitality, providing a relaxing space where guests can enjoy a coffee in the morning or a cocktail well into the evening.

The Newsroom: Northern Liberties’ Hidden Speakeasy

Looking for a secret bar experience? The Newsroom, a speakeasy-style cocktail bar, is set to open at 1102 Germantown Ave. inside The Beverly in 2025.

Entrance: Hidden behind a vending machine for a true speakeasy feel
Cuisine: A fusion of Latino and Asian flavors curated by Chef Ricardo Cardona
Ambiance: Dim lighting, plush seating, and a classic pressroom-inspired design

Brought to life by New York’s Rose Hospitality Group, The Newsroom is expected to become one of the best cocktail bars in Northern Liberties, offering exclusive drinks and elevated small plates.
